Ingredients
  

Cabbage Leaves
  • 1 large cabbage Outer leaves removed; use 8 large leaves for wrapping.
Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey Can substitute with chicken or plant-based alternatives.
  • 1 large egg Acts as a binder for the filling.
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese Use your favorite cheese like cheddar, feta, or mozzarella.
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped Adds flavor to the filling.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances the flavor of the meat mixture.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil or cooking spray For drizzling or spraying on burgers.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Remove and discard the outer leaves of the cabbage, then carefully separate 8 large leaves.
Filling
  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef or turkey, egg, cheese, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Assembly
  1. Spoon a portion of the meat mixture into the center of each cabbage leaf.
  2. Fold the sides of the leaf over the filling and place seam-side down on a baking sheet.
  3. Lightly drizzle or spray the cabbage burgers with olive oil.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the cabbage is tender.
Serving
  1. Serve hot, optionally topped with your favorite sauces.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place in the oven or microwave until warmed through. Optional: Add diced vegetables to the filling or use different meats and cheeses for variations.
