Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture, and continue mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Stir in the chocolate chips by hand until evenly distributed.
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded scoops of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill the dough for 30 minutes to an hour for thicker cookies. Store baked cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
