Ingredients

Dumpling Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water Gradually added to form dough
Filling
  • 1 pound ground pork (or chicken)
  • 1 cup finely diced vegetables (e.g., carrots, cabbage)
  • 2 pieces green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • to taste pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually add water while stirring until you form a dough.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth. Let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, combine ground meat, diced vegetables, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
  4. Roll out the rested dough and cut it into small circles.
  5. Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each circle and fold over to seal, pinching the edges together.
Cooking
  1. To cook, you can steam, boil, or pan-fry the dumplings until cooked through.
  2. Optionally, serve with a sauce made from soy sauce and a splash of vinegar.

Notes

Ensure your dough is well-kneaded for better texture. Don't overfill the dumplings; a teaspoon of filling is usually sufficient. Experiment with different protein and vegetable combinations for diverse flavors. For a unique twist, try adding a touch of ginger to the filling.
