  • 1 loaf French or Italian bread Choose a sturdy base.
  • 4-6 cloves fresh garlic Use fresh garlic for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Softened for easy spreading.
  • 1 cup cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or parmesan) Use freshly grated cheese for better melting.
Optional Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup parsley Chopped, for added flavor.
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes For a hint of heat.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
  3. Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter mixture generously on each half.
  4. Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly over the buttered surfaces.
Baking
  1. Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and slightly golden.
  3. If desired, switch to the broiler for an additional 1-2 minutes to achieve extra browning, but watch closely to prevent burning.

Notes

For a crunchy texture, bake the bread longer at a lower temperature. Experiment with different cheese combinations for varied flavors.
