Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined. Slowly add the brewed coffee and mix until smooth.
- Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
Baking
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to cooling racks.
Frosting Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
Assembling the Cake
- Once the cakes have cooled completely, place one layer on a serving plate.
- Spread frosting on the top, place the second layer on and frost the top and sides.
Serving
- Slice the cake and serve it with coffee or tea.
