Method
Preparing the Patties
- Portion the ground beef and gently shape into patties without overworking the meat.
- Create a small dip in the center of each patty using your thumb to prevent puffing.
- Wrap the patties and keep them chilled until ready to grill.
Grilling
- Preheat your grill. Choose between gas or charcoal based on your preference.
- Cook patties over a two-zone fire setup to allow for searing and cooking control.
- Grill each patty for about 3-4 minutes on one side before flipping.
- If adding cheese, place it on top of the patties just before they are done.
- Remove patties from heat and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
Serving
- Serve the patties on toasted buns with your choice of toppings and sauces.
- Encourage guests to build their own burgers at the table.
Notes
Use a meat thermometer to check doneness (160°F for well-done). Handle meat gently for tender burgers. Prepare sauces ahead of time for convenience.
